The 'Micropolis' story with Jean Michel Jarre

My all-time hero Jean Michel Jarre gave me a favour in 2010.
In 2010 I contacted with Jean Michel Jarre, because I wanted to use a sample of his Chronologie 6 track on my "Micropolis" album.
He answered me some hours later that he gives me permission to use the sample. He was so kind that he didn't want any revenue from this.
Big personality helping to a small one.
The track was "Opaque Projector".

In April 9th, at 11 Magnus Birgersson aka Solar Fields has posted about my album Layers on his Facebook wall after he noticed that I set this album for free.
Earlier he listened my album, and he liked, as he wrote it to me. On those April day his 21.000 fans read this post, and started to download incredibly big time. So much people donated some money for this album, and this helped me a month later to buy my first-ever bike.
This could never happen without his kind post, from Göteborg. We never met. He never wanted anything back for his kindness. And this could never happen without those, who paid something for my music in this month. Thank you Magnus, thank you everone!

About my instruments and setup

People asking what instruments and devices I use for creating my music. Through the years my setup is always changed, so here is my (not short) answer.

The prehistoric era

When I was a teenager (my "stage name" was SKUA) from 1996 to 1999 I used Scream Tracker. In the following photo I show you what it was. No, it isn't a dashboard for a nuclear plant or a space shuttle - it is for making music.

The pre-Tangram era (Afterglow)

After 1999 I paused my musical "career". In 2004 I bought a Roland V-Synth, and after one of it's preprogrammed patch I renamed myself to Afterglow. I used Orion Platinum with it, to record and mix my music. After that I bought an apple notebook with Garage Band. Later I used an MC-808 groovebox. I had a separated room that I used as my studio. In this studio I had a digital wind instrument, a mixing desk and a huge MIDI keyboard called UF-8. In this studio I made the following albums: Move and Still, Highway Ambience, Mindwaves, Aura and Tepidarium.

The Tangram-setup

In 2009 we moved to a smaller apartment, and in this place my instruments were not fit. I sold my hardware instruments and bought an iMac with Logic Pro 8. From that time I used AU plugins (the Mac version of VSTi plugins) - Audjoo Helix, Arturia Moog Modular, KORG M1, Native Instruments Massive, Novation V-station, Rob Papen Blue and Predator, u-he Diva. In the summer of 2010 I bought an iPad (later I switched to iPad mini) and I running so much applications on it. From Vermillion EP I wrote all of my albums on this setup. I want to use some hardware instrument, I hope that someday I will have a bigger apartment and I could buy a KORG MS-20 mini for example. I use a Focusrite Saffire PRO 26 i/o as soundcard and a Samson G-Track mike.

A twitter friend of mine kindly designed a 3D printable TANGRAM shaped cookie cutter for me, and shared it's source code over the internet. So if you have a chance to print object via a 3D printer, you can create your own TANGRAM shaped cookies. What fun!
